Caerphilly Branch celebrates Lady Day with a record number of new members commissioned.

The Caerphilly branch of Mothers’ Union marked the Feast of the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary with a celebration of the Holy Eucharist.
This proved to be a very joyful celebration as during the service, the Branch Leader, Sue Rivers, commissioned 12 new members and re-enrolled 4 members to the Mothers’ Union branch. Of the new members, five were men. The branch now has 51 members with 5 Indoor members.
Members of the branch have been active since the new year, in sewing the knitted leaves made for the knitted Christmas Tree and crocheting them into blankets for donation to the Homeless. Over 30 blankets have been completed to date. The blankets were blessed by Rev. Mark Greenaway Robbins, before being donated to the nominated charity.
A Coffee evening was held in the house of a long-standing member, Judith Child, and the branch was fortunate in raising an excellent amount of money. From this, a cheque for £400 was presented to Lowrie Washington-Jones, Action and Outreach Coordinator, for the Away From It All Caravan appeal.
We are grateful to all members who continue to support the work of Mothers’ Union in Caerphilly.
