Newly appointed MU Central Chaplain has Welsh links.

Llandaff Diocese Mothers’ Union wishes to send our heartfelt congratulations to Bishop Emma Ineson on her appointment as MU Central Chaplain.

Bishop Emma was born in Birmingham, brought up in Kenya (where her parents worked in education) and spent her teenage years in South Wales. She is the granddaughter of the late Mrs Annie Williams, who was a long-standing and faithful member of the Laleston Branch of Mothers’ Union and a delightful lady.

Bishop Emma married her husband Mat, in Laleston Church, Bridgend and they have two grown up children.

We have also learned that the cross she had made when she was consecrated as Suffragan Bishop of Penrith earlier this year, was made for her especially by the jeweller on the old bridge in Bridgend.

This is the first time that the role, which serves the worldwide organisation made up of 4 million members, has been filled by a woman and we are pleased that Bishop Emma will be helping guide the spiritual lives of members and staff as well as ensuring that Mothers’ Union continues to work effectively alongside clergy and the wider Anglican Communion.
