YEAR OF PILGRIMAGE – TEDI PERERIN / PILGRIM BEAR

Bishop June asked our Diocesan President Sue Rivers, if the Mothers’ Union could help in knitting enough Tedi Pererin/ Pilgrim Bears for our Church in Wales schools as part of the Year of Pilgrimage. The idea stemmed from Mothers’ Union member Jacqui Nutt Davies from Merthyr Tydfil, who knitted the very first Tedi Pererin, which accompanied Bishop June on pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela.
The Tedi Pererin/ Pilgrim Bears knitted by our wonderful Mothers’ Union members were blessed by Bishop June this afternoon at the Launch of the Pilgrimage Year in Llandaff Cathedral. A total of sixty bears were blessed with 26 bears allocated to our Church in Wales Schools. Many branches have knitted bears for use in their parishes and linked community schools as well.
Sue Rivers, President, was overjoyed at the response from across the Diocese, to the challenge with so many bears lined up to be blessed at the Cathedral. It made for an impressive display.
We wish all Tedi Pererin well on their Year of Pilgrimage and look forward to hearing of their journeys. Please send photographs and details of your Pilgrim Bear’s journeys throughout the Diocese.
